Second year equine students Cordelia
Marshall and Lydia Morrison helped
organise the Longines FEI European
Eventing Championship at Blair Castle
(September 2015), as part of their 20-
week work placement. Working in the
organisers’ office they gained a valuable
insight into the running of a prestigious
equestrian competition, which involved
teams from all over Europe.
Cordelia and Lydia worked alongside
a number of RAU alumni, including:
April Clough on the media team,
Jenny Meiklejohn, Lucie Charlton,
and Verena Smith on the organising
team, and Charlie Egar who worked
for Henson Franklyn on the branding.
Spectators enjoyed the familiar voice of
Mike Tucker, international commentator
and RAU alumnus and Governor. The
whole event was given a royal finale with
HM The Queen presenting the medals
to the winning teams and riders.
In April 2016, hundreds of
second year students entered the
workplace worldwide, in a bid to
gain valuable hands-on experience
and key employability skills.
