SPORTS REPORTS
Netball
We recruited a good number of enthusiastic
freshers this year, and had a high turnout
at our Monday evening training sessions.
Matches have gone well, and while we
haven’t won many, we have certainly
had fun playing them and learning from
other teams – hopefully teaching them
a thing or two too! Due to such a high
turnout, we try to play as many freshers as
possible on the team each week. We’ve
held a few more socials this year which
have proved popular, and helped bring
everyone closer together. I’m proud to have
captained such an incredible team, and
a massive thank you to Amanda Babos
for vice-captaining the squad with me!

Men’s hockey
Men’s hockey continues on an upwards
curve. Following last season’s promotion
into BUCS Western Conference Division
3B and facing potentially stiffer opposition,
the squad excelled again. After finishing
only two points behind this season’s league
winners, it meant we narrowly missed
out on a second consecutive promotion
in two years. The club’s success was
due to great team spirit and enthusiasm
by the players, both on and off the field.
Special mention must go to Hugo Segrave,
Nick Moss, and Matt Van Der Torren for
assisting with coaching, and their continued
efforts to promote the club’s success. The
introduction of a permanent coach and
possibly a second team in future will assist
with the team’s growth. With the majority of
players staying on for the 2016/17 season,
I believe that the men’s hockey team will
continue to go from strength to strength.

Ladies’ hockey
The ladies 1st XI have faced many tough
matches this season, coming up against
some stiff competition from the likes of
Bristol 2nds. The commitment of the
hockey team, from the freshers to the
second years, has been outstanding.
Although we haven’t had a very successful
season, as a team we never gave up
and everyone kept their enthusiasm right
through until the last match. We had a
large number of talented freshers join this
year, who have been consistently reliable
and are a great asset to the team. We
have bonded well which will hopefully carry
on into a successful season next year.
